Do we know the God we worship?
Who is HE?
We pray for God to reign in our lives, to take full control, yet do we know this GOD that we seek?
Who is our God? How much do we actually know him when we ask of Him to take full control? Knowing God is not merely forming an image of God through words and adjectives we find through praise or a sermon.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with GOD, and the Word was GOD.”
(John 1: 1)
Knowing God is knowing scripture, God’s personal, living, breathing description of who He is.
Scripture proves over and over again how mighty, how indescribable our God is.
The God of scripture is the same God we worship, yet the reverence and diligence that God commands us to His word, recorded in Scripture, is often not reflected in our lives.
"Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart."
(Proverbs 7:3)
In Matthew, Jesus says to the Sadducees, who thought of resurrections as impossible, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures, nor the power of God.”
(Matthew 22: 29)
Jesus rebukes them in this way saying that if they had true understanding of scripture, they would have known the true power of God.
What is impossible for the image of God that we possess right now?
Is there a part of our lives that we’ve stopped praying for, stopped yearning for, and stopped consulting God for? Has something been underlying our lives for so long that we've given up on it?
Our GOD healed a woman who was bleeding for 12 years.
Is there an unclean wound in your life that keeps bleeding out that you’ve stopped tugging at Jesus’ garments?
Our GOD raises Lazarus, who was dead for four days to life.
In your life, are there relationships that are decaying? Have they stayed broken and wrapped up in incomplete wraps, like linen hiding rotting flesh and blood?
Our God sits on a throne in heaven, with the "appearance of jasper and carnelian." From His throne come"Flashes of lightnings, and rumblings and peals of thunder", and the four living creatures "never cease" His praise. ( Revelations 4: 3-8)
Does the GOD of lightning and thunder shake and move your life, or does he sit on a bookshelf unopened?
Our GOD wants every portion of our lives to be filled with Him and His power.
He asks Zacchaeus to come down immediately from his tree, saying that he must stay at Zacchaeus’ house.
He tells Moses that he will be with his mouth and teach him what to say.
He promises, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” (John 14:23)
Search him and seek Him in the scriptures day and night. Invite this almighty GOD into the details of your life. Let him soak and mend every little crevice in your life. Make your home with Him. Pray your prayers with the words of life; our prayers hold more power as we become more aware of the power of the being that we pray to.
The Word is not a portion of our faith; it is our foundation and our cornerstone.
Our God is infinite. Infinitely good, infinitely powerful, and infinitely loving to the point where He gave us infinite time with those who believe.
Let's take our time to seek this infinite GOD.
